Trying to Duck my Duty

I thought I was justified in complaining about how hard it is to live my faith at work. My accountability partner set my straight. Sometimes tough situations require tough medicine, but Joe always takes it to an extreme.

I know exactly what you mean.
I'm a Graphic Designer in San Diego, California, working for a Public Affairs company. Not only have I not been a great witness on a consistent basis, but often throw up my hands in frustration.

But mostly, there are things I believe the Lord put me here and gifted me uniquely to do, that take a lot of extra time in the evenings and weekends, that I've been unwilling to do thus far.

The key one is the website that has gone undeveloped for nearly ten years, which was the impetus for locating your blog, actually.

Since 1986, when I began using the business name HISwork, I had no idea what the (then) obscure Bible reference would impact my life.

I secured the domain name in 1999 as a way to motivate myself to continually think of ways to synthesize my vocation and avocation.

I've been so busy earning a living that the site has, for the most part been used for my own personal gain, instead of furthering HIS, which was the initial idea that motivated me to secure it in the first place.

My biggest prayer in 2007 is that I focus more on HIS work and less on mine. Now that He's gotten me a steady job (freelancing was about as unstable as one might imagine), with benefits, (including paid vacations and holidays), and the company is willing to reimburse me for work-related training, I can finally learn DreamWeaver, and use the soon-to-be-acquired skills on my off-time to build the HISwork.com site to HIS glory.

Wish me luck.
